New window installation with trim - ok to caulk? Will water get in? Not happy

Built house October 2013. Water kept blowing in top and through sashes on old windows. Builder claimed flashing, etc. was all installed correctly, and was issues with windows themselves. After dealing with this issue for 9 months, our windows finally got replaced. They gave me the option to put white trim around the exterior of the window, which I let them do. After installation, he wanted to keep the sides totally open between the window and the exterior trim. There was a huge gap which showed the flashing around the windows sides. I asked him to caulk around the windows, and he got all upset with me, before finally doing it. He caulked the sides, top above J channel where window meets trim, and bottom between trim and window. Are these all ok places to put silicone caulk? I need to make sure water stays out and does not get inside house wall. They put down flashing, caulked around and screwed in new construction windows, flashing again on all four sides, above the flashing nailed osb board, and finally nailed in the exterior trim.The bottom picture, can water get in through middle piece, and get trapped? I am extremely worried about water getting trapped underneath the trim.
